I was born in Senatobia, Mississippi, and graduated from Northwest Community College there. I then moved to Memphis and attended Mrs. Wiley's Business School. after graduation, I worked for many years as a secretary. I was also married for 39 years, and my husband's job allowed us to travel quite a bit. During these travels, I met lots of interesting people and made many friends all over the country. And I still consider myself a "people person."
In 1993, a friend said she wouldn't attend the LIFE classes unless I did! So I agreed to go, and discovered I had many other friends there. After I graduated I stayed very active in LIFE. I have always loved to write, and now I am editor of LifeLine, the LIFE Newsletter.
Staying involved in LIFE has really helped me to feel more assertive and empowered. Now I remember not to do things I don't want to do just to please others. But of course, there are so many things I do want to do. I monitored the '94 Underwood class, and helped out however I could. It's been a great experience.
My LIFE class has supported this Hotline from the start, so I'm very enthusiastic about it. I see how much it can help, and being a people person I enjoy the interaction with those calling in. Just having someone to listen and understand is what people seem to appreciate the most. A lady left a message early this morning asking us to please call her back because she wanted to thank us for helping so much.
